Work of Ljubica Kojic through Her Contribution to the Education of Librarians and the Development of Cataloguing Practice in the Afterwar Period

Abstract

The purpose of this work is to describe the contribution of Ljubica Kojic (1911–1974) and her significance in the promotion of librarianship in Serbia during the fifties and sixties of the 20th century through the usage of archival material kept in the National Library and National Museum in Belgrade and published works. She was employed in the Subject catalogue department of the National Library and also in the Museum’s library as a librarian and chief librarian. Ljubica Kojic was also a member of the editorial board and chief editor of the journal Librarian. She published a few articles there, especially about bibliography. She was both secretary and a member of the Commission for State’s professional exam in library science and a member of the executive board of the Serbian Library Association. As a member of this association, she also participated in annual congresses of Yugoslav librarians and yearly gatherings of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions as an individual member.
