The Library of the Association of Fine Artists of Serbia (ULUS)
Abstract
The Association of Fine Artists of Serbia (ULUS) was founded in 1919. During the Second World War the Association ceased to work, but in 1945 it continued again. The idea of establishing a library was present from the very formation of ULUS, but it was realized only in 2021-2, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia. The newly founded library consists of three funds. The first is the library collection of the Society of Friends of Arts „Cvijeta Zuzorić“. The second consists of the production of ULUS, while the third grows through exchange and gifts. Predominant library units of this newly founded library are art catalogues published by the Association, and books from the field of fine arts. The collection is partly building through publications created as a result of the ULUS contemporary publishing and artistic activities. Since the library is partially inventoried and catalogued, the presumptive number of library units is over 3000. The collection was placed on shelves, and space arranged for users and housing of the holdings.
The work aims to present the newly founded library and highlight its importance for both visual artists and the public.
